James (Jim) Reid
Director Reid was elected for a 4-year term in May of 2023.
Served and retired from the United States Air Force as a Fire Fighter/Officer. Fortunate to have been the El Paso County Fire Marshal, El Paso County Executive Director of the Department of Public Works and just recently retired as the Regional Director for the Office of Emergency Management. Lived in our community since 1993. I have had key roles in the Waldo Canyon Fire, Black Forest Fire recovery, and multiple fires and hazardous material responses within El Paso County over the last 20 years. Heavily involved with the Covid-19 response where the office of emergency management was active for 2 ½ years. Completed an Associate in Applied Fire Science and Personnel Administration; a Bachelor of Science Degree in Organizational Management, a graduate of the Colorado Peace Officers Safety and Training certification program and a graduate of the Executive Fire Officers program from the U.S. Fire Administration at the National Fire Academy, also hold numerous fire and emergency management certifications. Serving has been a way of life for me for over 43 years. I am married with 6 grandchildren and enjoy restoring old VW bugs, fishing and traveling.
While living in this community and had watched the Falcon Fire District grow over the last twenty years. What an amazing journey, this district has become a premier Fire District in El Paso County. The professionalism of our first responders is second to none because of the current department leadership and previous boards. It would be an honor to be part of and assist in keeping that momentum going forward. Although retired, I have a vast working knowledge of the region and have a lot to offer should I be elected to the Falcon Fire Protection Board.
I have experience as the Chair of the Hanover Fire Protection District board. Other boards I have either chaired or participated in are the Homeland Security South Central Region, El Paso County E911, Emergency Services Agency, State Waste Tire Board and currently on the Community Corrections Board. I have a strong working knowledge of the County, fire service and emergency management. My background and experience enable me to be a strong resource for the Falcon Fire Protection District
