Daniel Kupferer
Director Kupferer was appointed and sworn in to fill a vacant seat on the Board on September, 9, 2020. He is no stranger to the District. He has served a few terms on the Board and is a retired volunteer firefighter with the Falcon Fire Protection District. He currently serves as the Board's Vice President.
Kupferer joined the department in February 1980 as a volunteer firefighter. He retired as the Assistant Chief, January 1, 2000. He ran for the board of directors after he retired and was elected as a director in May 2000. He has been on the board on and off over the past 20 years. You can only serve 2 consecutive 4-year terms without sitting out a term, but different circumstances caused him not to run for consecutive terms until 8 years ago. He had been appointed to fill other director positions in the past where a director had to resign from for one reason or another.
He is a professional land surveyor and has seen enormous growth and with his background in land development, he feels it has been a great help in recognizing the development process and how it impacts the department. Specifically in the construction of the last 5 fire stations which includes the new station 3; creating the plat for approval with El Paso County and preparing the site plans for them.
He said that the most memorable accomplishment has been the ongoing privilege of helping guide the district from an all-volunteer department with one station to having three 24/7 manned stations and our own advanced life support ambulance service.
He enjoys being around the dedicated professional personnel that make up the department and the selfless board members that give of their time to make the district better for everyone. Some of these people have been around for a long time.
